For those who wish to live in the city of Austin, the Austin Independent School District manages to take challenges and turn them into something great. While some schools may have difficulty managing students who speak 57 different languages, the Austin Independent School District uses takes these differences and creates a multi-cultural, inclusive atmosphere where SAT scores soar and more than half of students participate in Advanced Placement classes.

If you want to live just west of downtown in Rollingwood or Westlake Hills, your children are likely to be part of the Eanes Independent School District. Eanes is well-known for its quality of education, with approximately 95 percent of its graduates going on to attend college. Students who attend are part of the Eanes District also consistently score higher than the state average on the TAKS and above the national average on the ACT and SAT. This superb education is likely due to the fact that more than a third of the district’s teachers hold a master’s degree or higher and more than half of the faculty has more than ten years of teaching experience.

The Lake Travis Independent School District is another Austin-area district that boasts great results, despite the fact that enrollment within the district has increased by about 1,000 percent since 1981. This increase in enrollment is largely due to the significant growth within the communities the district services, which include Bee Cave, Briarcliff, Lakeway and The Hills of Lakeway. The Lake Travis district places an emphasis on the development of lifelong problem-solving skills while also promoting the use of technology in the classroom. With a focus on the future and an emphasis on quality education, the district consistently makes AYP and receives high rankings through the Texas Education Agency.

With a population increasing by as much as 10 percent each year, the Leander Independent School District is another Austin-area school district that is growing rapidly. Despite these challenges, the Leander district continues to surpass both state and national standards on their assessments and to be recognized by the Texas Education Agency. Communities served by the district include Leander, Cedar Park and Jonestown.

If you are considering a move to Round Rock or to certain parts of Cedar Park, your children will be serviced by the Round Rock School District. The nationally-recognized district of Round Rock has been awarded the What Parents Want award for 14 years. The recognition, which is only extended to 16.2 percent of the nation’s public school districts, recognizes those districts that maintain small class sizes, pay their teachers well and educate students in a way that is rigorous and unintimidating.
